Watertown for third place. Several team members then represented
South Dakota well the following weekend by taking second place in the President's Cup Tournament on March 12-14 in
Rapid City. That tournament featured the top high school teams from
South Dakota,
North Dakota,
Wyoming and
Montana. The Caps lost to the powerhouse
Sioux Falls team in the finals. The Caps finished with a 32-9-0-3 record, meaning three of their losses were in overtime. The 32 wins set a team record. For the second time in team history, the Caps won the league championship, posting a 17-4-0-0 record.
There were also several notable individual performances during the season:
Josh Rogers earned first-team All-State center honors. He tied for fourth in the league in scoring with 42 points. His 25 goals were third, and his 17 assists tied for seventh.
Cody Bishop earned second-team All-State goalie honors. He led the league with 19 wins, including the state tournament. He tied for second with 3 shutouts, was fifth in goals-against average at 2.40, and tied for fourth in save percentage at .903.
